Frequently asked questions

Q01How do I know which service is right for us?

You do not need to decide before contacting us. Tell us what you want to build, fix, or grow in Japan, and we will recommend the smallest service that fits the job.

Q02What should I send to get started?

A website link, draft, source files, or existing copy is enough to start. If available, share any brand guidelines or marketing materials plus basic context about your business and target customers. We will ask if anything else is needed.

Q03Can we start with just one page or a small project?

Yes. You can start with a safety check, one page, one asset, or a focused support task. There is no requirement to begin with a full-site project.

Q04Do I need to have Japanese content already?

No. We can work from English source material only, review Japanese that already exists, or compare both when the project calls for it.

Q05We’re already active in Japan. Can you still help us?

Yes. Many projects begin after launch, when a company wants to improve trust, search visibility, conversion, consistency, or ongoing marketing execution in Japan.

Q06Can you help if we don’t know what needs to be changed?

Yes. You do not need to diagnose the problem first. We can review what is already there, identify the main friction points, and recommend the most useful next step.

Q07How is the final price determined?

The final price depends on scope, volume, complexity, format, research needs, and any implementation requirements. Published starting prices apply to standard scope, and we confirm the price before work begins.

Q08What happens if we cancel after payment?

If you cancel after payment but before work has begun, 80% of the amount paid for that service or billing period will be refunded. Once work has begun, the payment is non-refundable, except where required by applicable law.

Q09How long does a typical project take?

A standard Market-Ready Page usually takes around 2–5 business days, while a Japan Safety Check of up to three standard pages is typically 1–3 business days. Larger or more complex projects are scheduled based on scope and confirmed with the quote.

Q10What happens if we need revisions?

Up to two revision rounds are included at no extra charge as long as the original source and agreed scope have not changed. Changes to the source, new requirements, or additional revision rounds may be quoted separately.

Q11Do we need to sign up for ongoing support?

No. Most services are available as one-off projects. Ongoing Website Care and Local Marketing Partner are available when you need recurring support. For other one-off Japan-side needs, contact us and we’ll confirm the best way to help.

Q12Do you only localize existing content, or can you create Japanese content from scratch?

Both. We can localize and rebuild existing global content for Japan, or create original Japanese marketing content from scratch when a Japan-specific approach makes more sense.

Q13What kinds of content can you work on?

We can support websites, landing pages, marketplaces, email and newsletters, SEO/AEO articles, social media posts, ad copy, brochures, manuals, sales materials, FAQs, help content, and other customer-facing marketing assets.

Q14Can you review Japanese created by AI, a freelancer, or another agency?

Yes. We can review existing Japanese regardless of how it was created. Depending on what you need, that can range from a basic safety check to a source-based rewrite designed to make the content market-ready.

Q15Do you use AI or machine translation?

Yes. We may use AI or machine translation as part of the workflow, but raw output is never treated as the final product. A native Japanese specialist reviews and substantially rewrites it where needed, with marketing, search intent, brand voice, trust, and conversion in mind.

Q16Is our material kept confidential?

Yes. We treat client materials as confidential and can sign an NDA where required. Materials are used only as needed to deliver the agreed work and are handled in line with our Privacy Policy and any project-specific confidentiality terms.

Q17Will a native Japanese specialist review my project?

Yes. A native Japanese specialist reviews the work with marketing, customer experience, and local context in mind, not grammar alone.

Q18Who reviews the final Japanese?

A native Japanese lead reviewer is responsible for final QA and consistency. Where the project includes implementation or in-context review, we also check the live Japanese experience before sign-off.

Q19How much will you change from the English source?

As much as needed to make the message work in Japan without changing the underlying facts or offer. We may restructure wording, hooks, CTAs, sentence order, search terms, or trust signals, but material changes to claims or business terms are not made without approval.

Q20Do you research the Japanese market before rewriting the copy?

Yes, when the project requires it. We may review competitors, terminology, search behavior, customer expectations, and market conventions before rewriting. The depth of research depends on the service and scope.

Q21Do you handle Japanese SEO as part of localization?

Yes, where SEO/AEO is relevant to the page. We can consider Japanese search intent, headings, metadata, keyword usage, and how people actually search in Japan. Broader SEO/AEO and keyword research can also be handled as a separate support task.

Q22Can you localize our existing SEO keywords and metadata?

Yes, but we do not simply translate keywords word for word. We can review your existing keyword and metadata strategy against Japanese search language and rebuild it around terms that make sense for the local market.

Q23How do you keep our brand voice and terminology consistent?

We keep the same lead reviewer across the account and work from your existing brand references, terminology, and prior localization decisions. For ongoing clients, those decisions carry forward so each new asset starts from established context instead of from zero.

Q24Will you explain why you changed the copy?

Yes. We can explain the reasoning behind meaningful localization and marketing decisions, especially major changes to CTAs, search terms, trust-sensitive wording, or message structure. Routine proofreading changes are usually kept simple so the review does not become unnecessarily heavy.

Q25Can you work with content that is already live?

Yes. We can review live Japanese pages or campaigns, identify the main issues, and provide prioritized changes. Where needed, a final in-context QA can also be performed after your team implements the updates.

Q26Can you maintain the Japanese we already like and only improve what needs fixing?

Yes. We do not rewrite good Japanese just for the sake of rewriting it. Strong existing copy can stay in place while we focus on issues that materially affect accuracy, clarity, trust, consistency, search intent, or conversion.

Q27Do you also check the Japanese after it is implemented?

Yes, where included in the agreed scope. A final in-context QA can catch broken copy, missing text, layout interference, inconsistent terminology, and other issues that may only appear after implementation.

Q28Do you implement the changes, or deliver the final copy to our team?

Our standard delivery is Word, Excel, or another agreed file format so your team keeps control of implementation. Direct CMS editing can be arranged when needed, but it is not the default workflow.

Q29Can you work directly with our website or CMS?

Yes, for content editing where the platform, permissions, and project scope allow it. To reduce implementation risk, our standard workflow is to deliver the final content in Word or Excel for your team to publish. Coding, structural changes, or web development are not part of standard CMS editing.

Q30What if our English source changes during the project?

Tell us as soon as possible. Small changes may be easy to absorb, but new or revised source content can affect the timeline, scope, and price. Source changes are separate from the two included revision rounds.

Q31What happens when we update the site later?

You can send future updates as a new project, or use Ongoing Website Care or Local Marketing Partner support for recurring changes. With ongoing support, we keep the established brand voice, terminology, and localization context across updates.

Q32Can we use your Japan support without a website localization project?

Yes. Our services can be used independently, and we can also tailor one-off Japan-side support around needs that fall outside our listed services. Contact us and we’ll confirm the best-fit scope.

Q33Can I ask for help with just one specific issue?

Yes. A focused one-off task is completely fine. If the issue is better handled through another service or requires a different specialist, we will tell you before the work begins.

Q34Can you work with our existing marketing team, agency, or translator?

Yes. We can work as the Japan-side specialist alongside your in-house team, agency, translator, developer, or other partners. You do not need to replace an existing setup to use Japalize.

Q35Do we need Japanese speakers on our team?

No. Project communication can be handled in English, and we can explain the reasoning behind important Japanese-language and marketing decisions so your team can review them without needing native-level Japanese.

Q36What is not included in your services?

Japalize focuses on localization and Japan-side marketing support. We do not provide software or website functionality testing, debugging, programming, or web/app development. Partner sourcing and outreach do not include direct customer acquisition, sales closing, or guaranteed distribution or commercial agreements. Legal, tax, and regulated professional advice are also outside our scope. If a project touches an area outside our standard services, we will clarify that before work begins.
